What do you get when you mix wine, medical health and a great company? A wine appreciation workshop held right in the heart (no pun intended) of the nation’s oldest and largest acute tertiary hospital, Singapore General Hospital, that’s what! The event was organized exclusively for the dedicated staff from the hospital.
Most of the participants were relatively unacquainted with wines. Curiosity prompted them to sign up and quite simply, to find out exactly what the fuss is about, with wines.
As the participants were led through the fascinating world of wine by the speaker, Yean Kai, with topics ranging from romance and art of wine appreciation, to the technical aspects of wines, the lively and enthusiastic participation from the crowd helped to complete the equation for a perfect evening!
The evening ended on a high note with a good doctor proclaiming, “Cabernet is still, my favourite grape variety!”
The following labels were tasted during the workshop to introduce the five basic grape varieties:
Morton Estate White Label Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2003
Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Chardonnay 2002
Irvine Springhill Merlot 2002
IV. Pirramimma Stock's Hill Shiraz 2002
Santa Rita 120 Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
Wishing you good health!
