As the founding team of NTU Wine Appreciation Club who went on to start a wine education and consultancy business, Phylloxera Enterprise, return to Mother Ship to continue their work on spreading the joy of wine to their mates from NTU. Even sweeter, was the overwhelming response from the undergraduates as the workshop organised was over-subscribed.
The fresh and young crowd was made up of mostly the graduating class and a handful from the junior years. The good mix of undergraduates from the various disciplines, business/accountancy, and engineering to the sciences and communication studies signified the growing trend and importance of wine in our fast evolving lifestyle. The crowd brightened the session with questions ranging from the social to the technical aspects of wines.
The following labels were tasted during the workshop to introduce the five basic grape varieties:
Le Bonheur Sauvignon Blanc 2004
Morton Estate White Label Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2002
Irvine Springhill Merlot 2002
Maxwell Ellen Street Shiraz 2001
Santa Rita 120 Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
